The Illustrated Life of St Philip Neri
Oxford Oratory
This entirely illustrated biography of St Philip Neri (1515-1595), the founder of the Congregation of the Oratory, is only the second edition of this suite of plates, originally printed as ‘Vita di S. Filippo Neri‘ in Venice. It contains 40 plates originally engraved by Giuseppe Filosi, designed by Giacomo Tanaglia, and published in Venice in 1757. This new edition replaces the original Italian text with new short English descriptions of St Philip’s life.
