First Summer Camp of the 1st Oxford Scout Troop of St Philip
The 1st Oxford Scout Troop of St Philip, part of our new Scouts of Europe group, travelled to St Michael's Abbey Farnborough for their first summer camp this week. Parishioners will recognise the boys from Sunday Masses two weeks ago, when they were raising money for their uniforms. The group is run by Br Oliver, and Br Toby from Blackfriars.
Fr Daniel blessed the assembled troop before departure:
A change of trains at Reading station:
Lunch and dinner were cooked outside on an open fire, all of which were made with materials found in the woods, and started with a flint and steel!
The Scouts made their own torches for when it got dark:
Br Toby reading a ghost story to the troop:
The monks joined the campfire on some nights, and helped with the campfire songs.
